Better Treatments for Anxiety and Depression

Life Medical Monthly Newsletter

Anxiety and depression are among the most common conditions we treat at Life Medical. While conventional psychiatry has made important advances, many patients are discovering that integrative approaches — used alone or alongside conventional treatment — can produce better outcomes with fewer side effects.

Understanding the Root Causes

Anxiety and depression rarely have a single cause. Nutritional deficiencies (particularly B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids), thyroid dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, gut dysbiosis, and chronic inflammation all contribute to mood disorders. A thorough evaluation that looks beyond neurotransmitters is essential for lasting recovery.

Amino Acid Therapy

The NeuroResearch Protocol uses targeted amino acid supplementation to support the brain's natural production of serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and other neurotransmitters. Unlike medications that block reuptake, amino acid therapy provides the raw materials the brain needs to function optimally. Many patients see significant improvement within 4-8 weeks.

Nutritional and Lifestyle Interventions

Diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management are not optional add-ons — they are foundational to mental health. We work with patients to identify and address lifestyle factors that may be perpetuating their symptoms, and to build sustainable habits that support long-term wellbeing.

When Medication Is Appropriate

We are not anti-medication. For some patients, pharmaceutical treatment is necessary and appropriate, especially in the short term. Our goal is to use the least invasive, most effective approach for each individual — which sometimes includes medication, and sometimes does not.

If you are struggling with anxiety or depression and want to explore integrative options, please schedule a consultation. We would be glad to review your history and discuss what might work best for you.
