Medical Cannabis program participants have welcomed the new option of dried flower since March 2022
The availability of dried cannabis flower has increased the number of program participants in many states.
Dried flower is a great addition to the program. Other states where it has been added have reported that people who previously bought cannabis flower on the illicit, or illegal, market are now choosing to enroll in/purchase through a regulated medical program. NOTE: Minnesota’s medical cannabis dispensaries offer pre-packaged dried flower and pre-rolls in a variety of strains and levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). Registered patients can get up to a 90-day supply of smokable cannabis.
Consultations for medical cannabis, which can be virtual or in-person, are required when a patient changes the type of medical cannabis they receive. For instance, if a patient switches from a cannabis pill or oil to dried flower they need to schedule a consultation.
Patients should be aware that the Medical Cannabis Program added another option for medicine in 2022. Infused edibles (in the form of gummies and chews) are now available delivery methods.
